PharmCAS institutions are instructed to select a final (enforced) application deadline and a priority application deadline, if desired. Please refer to the PharmCAS School Manual for related policies. Non-PharmCAS institutions must enter an application deadline and fee amount.

What is the final (enforced) application deadline for your program?
PharmCAS institutions may choose to set a priority deadline to encourage applicants to apply earlier in the admissions cycle. Priority deadlines are non-binding. Applicants may apply to one or more schools with a priority deadline or apply to a school after the priority deadline has passed (and before the regular deadline has passed). PharmCAS will not determine whether an applicant has met a school’s priority deadline requirements, nor distinguish between regular and priority applications in processing. If an applicant misses a priority deadline and still wishes to be considered for any school-specific incentives associated with a priority deadline, PharmCAS will instruct the applicant to contact the school directly. If you do not have a priority deadline, select "None" from the list below.

Priority deadlines cannot be set after the final deadline date. Changes or extensions to priority deadlines after the cycle launches are strongly discouraged. If a change or extension is necessary, contact cas@aacp.org. Only one change or extension to the priority deadline is permitted per cycle.

Only enter dual degrees that meet all of the following criteria. The dual degree must...

  1. Result in a Pharm.D. degree plus a graduate or professional degree or a non-licensure bachelor's degree and M.S./Ph.D. degree.
  2. Be a defined pathway publicly offered by the college/school of pharmacy.
  3. Provide a structured curriculum not invented by the student.
  4. Reduce the credits or time required to complete both degrees.

Do not include the following types of programs, as defined by AACP:

  • Concurrent, double, or second degrees: Student is enrolled in separate degree programs (concurrently or sequentially), but credits and/or time required to complete both degrees are not reduced.
  • Joint degrees: Student pursues two or more majors that result in a single degree.
  • Bachelor's degree: Early assurance students awarded a bachelor's degree as part of Pharm.D. curriculum.
  • Certificates/Concentrations: Non-degree credentials earned at the institution.

FYI: SACS and selected institutions refer to dual degrees as ‘combination’ degrees. If your school uses the term “combination” degrees for programs that meet all of the PharmCAS criteria for dual degrees, then enter them in this section.

Please enter every REQUIRED course prerequisite. Select the subject that best matches the course content. If the program requires more than one course in the same subject (e.g., Biology I and Biology II), enter the courses separately on the form. Do NOT combine them into a single entry. AACP will use the course subjects posted on the directory pages to populate the annual "Course Prerequisite Summary" table. The number of times a course subject appears on the directory page will be equated with the number of courses required by the program in that particular subject. The information will help applicants and programs more easily compare course prerequisites across institutions. Use the text box to provide additional details about your prerequisites, such as recommended courses, alternate courses, prerequisite tracks, and other details.

Example:

  • Course Subject: "Biology / Biological Sci"
  • Course Title: "Microbiology"
  • Semester Hours: "3"
  • Quarter Hours: "4"

This section is about evaluations, also known as letters of reference or recommendation (LORs).

PharmCAS will NOT verify that an applicant selected the correct evaluator type for your particular institution.

* If you are a non-PharmCAS institution, please ignore all references to PharmCAS and still complete this section.

Are evaluations (letters of reference) required by your institution?
If yes, how many evaluations are required?
Questions REQUIRED CONDITIONALLY REQUIRED RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED ACCEPTED CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED NOT ACCEPTED NO ANSWER (evaluator type will not show on page)
PharmCAS counts a committee letter as ONE reference. A committee letter generally represents a single letter with the collective thoughts of a group of designated individuals usually written by the chair or a designee. A committee letter may be counted as more than one evaluation by the institution.
What is your college/school policy on committee letters?
Does it count as more than one evaluation?

Pharmacists who previously earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy in the United States (U.S.) or abroad may pursue a nontraditional post-baccalaureate (post-B.S./post-Bacc) Pharm.D. degree offered by colleges and schools of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Nontraditional post-B.S. programs are ONLY available to pharmacists who currently hold a pharmacy license in the U.S. and have:

  1. Completed the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC®) certification process and other state licensure requirements, OR
  2. Graduated from an ACPE-accredited Bachelor of Pharmacy degree program before June 30, 2004.

Foreign-trained pharmacists without a U.S. license are NOT eligible for post-B.S. Pharm.D. programs.

Additionally, this field does NOT refer to your school's entry-level Pharm.D. degree program for students without a pharmacy degree. Most programs answer "no" to this question.

Does the institution offer a post-B.S. Pharm.D. program for current pharmacists who are already licensed in the U.S.?
If yes, is the post-B.S. Pharm.D. program offered to current U.S., Canadian, and/or foreign-trained pharmacists?
Foreign-trained pharmacists must complete one of two options before they can practice pharmacy in the U.S.

  1. Complete the FPGEC certification process: This pathway is only available to foreign-educated pharmacists who have previously completed the equivalent of a 5-year pharmacy degree program and earned an unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in their home country. Once foreign-educated pharmacists have successfully completed the FPGEC certification process, they are eligible to complete other U.S. state licensure requirements. Visit the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) website to learn more about the FPGEC certification process.
  2. Graduate from an ACPE-accredited entry-level (traditional) Pharm.D. program: Foreign-educated pharmacists who are ineligible for the FPGEC certification process for any reason and wish to practice in the U.S. must complete the entire entry-level (traditional) Pharm.D. program at an ACPE-accredited institution, including all introductory (IPEE) and advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) requirements. Each program will determine whether a foreign-trained pharmacist is eligible for advanced standing status. If yes, only a limited number of didactic (classroom-based) courses in the entry-level Pharm.D. program may be waived. Graduates of Pharm.D. programs accredited by ACPE are eligible to take NAPLEX and complete other U.S. state licensure requirements.

Foreign-educated pharmacists who complete either option #1 or #2 may also need to complete additional U.S. immigration requirements before they are eligible work and live in the U.S.

Contact ACPE directly with questions about the requirements for programs designed for foreign-educated pharmacists who are not yet eligible for U.S. licensure.
